My buddy Dave retired after working as a bar manager for decades in the states. Had plenty of money and actually lined up a job in Thailand at his buddies small resort hotel. He lasted 6 months and couldn't get his groove on. He came back to US and got his old job back. Thailand not for everyone.

Eat REAL Thai food. If you choose to live off of french fries or their equivalent in any country you will have high cholesterol and bad health. Most Thai foods are low/no oil and low/no sugar. Choices matter. It was funny to see the look on Keis when the guy started talking about how unhealthy Thai food is. I could see Keis was kinda like, . I had to skip past the guy after that. Sorry, KEIS ! 555

Update, these visas have been approved and are now live. The DTV visa is a 5 year, multi entry visa, and it’s true that you have to leave the country once a year, but you don’t need to re-apply. Going out and back in again (visa run) is enough. You enter, you get 6 months, then You can extend in country for another 6 months (at immigration for 1900 THB). After that 1 year is over, you leave and can come back in the next day and the cycle repeats. You only apply for the visa once every 5 years, not each year. (Confirmed by the Thai Authorities 100%). The cost of the visa is 10,000 THB (~280 USD), and you can apply in person at any Thai Embassy or Consulate or Online, but only outside of Thailand. This visa cannot be obtained locally.

My first time in Bkk back in 2022 I took a tuktuk ride for 1hr and got charged 400 bahts siteseeing.For me I thought that was not bad compared to the UK in a taxi for I hr it would cost 1500 bahts. But 2 days later, a tuk tuk drive approached me and said I take you sightseeing and temple and a suit shop for 1 hr 50 bahts.I took that ride and I did visit a suit shop and they tried they best but I stood my ground and told them I'm coming back with 5 work friends in a few weeks time,I got the card stamped and I was out of the shop and back into the tuk tuk finishing of the journey where I started from. But now I live here no way I'll get scammed from this guys or taxis without a meter.

These days there's new scam in Pattaya which is hair oil scam by Pakistanis. They will approach you to talk about baldness and will take you yo the shop where they sell fake and cheap quality hair oil. Guys who approach you pretends to be tourist themself but they are bastards scammers

When you say people are paying "way too much" - do you consider the lowest rents you see sorting offerings in a building on hipflat and other similar sites to be overpaying? I figured if you watch a building you like for a few months and see what the low is, and then try to rent for that low or close, you are not overpaying. I could be completely wrong!

I can definately relate to the Thai street food and a medical check up.... after one year my blood pressure was extremely high... doctor said it was the high sodium diet and especially the MSG used in most markets and street vendors.... but now I do most of my own cooking and occasionally go out for a special meal... awesome content from both you and Rob .... so tired of the UA-camr with he clickbait,,, "Best beach in Thailand... If you used the DJI mic, it’s possible you accidentally hit the noise reduction button, which distorts the audio.The video was sill good though.

Really enjoyed what Mark had to say. I love cooking my own Thai food in Sydney but the ingredients can be expensive. I hadn't really given any thought to the way dishes were prepared in Thailand, as I eat out all the time. I will give this more thought and will try and cook at home when I'm in Hua HIn.
